The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) is a comprehensive public research university founded in 1910 and headquartered in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, with a major additional campus in Long Beach and several teaching and research sites across the Mississippi Gulf Coast, along with online learning options that expand access for diverse students. It serves more than 13,000–14,000 students from all 50 U.S. states and over 70 countries, creating a globally connected academic environment focused on student success and workforce readiness.
