About
Vermont State University (VTSU) is a public, regionally accredited university born from the unification of Castleton University, Northern Vermont University, and Vermont Technical College and officially launched on July 1, 2023, as part of the Vermont State Colleges System, creating a single institution with a broad reach across the state of Vermont in the United States. Rooted in a tradition of accessible higher education dating back to 1787, VTSU operates five primary residential campuses in Castleton, Johnson, Lyndon, Randolph, and Williston along with multiple smaller learning sites and robust online offerings that collectively support flexible, inclusive, and affordable pathways to associate, bachelor’s, master’s, certificate, and professional credentials. With more than 105 academic programs spanning fields such as applied technology, engineering, healthcare, business, education, psychology, computer science, and the arts, students can experience a blend of rigorous classroom learning and experiential opportunities—including internships, research, service learning, and co-ops—that connect academic pursuits with real-world applications. VTSU emphasizes small class sizes, a strong faculty-student ratio, and substantial financial aid support to foster student success while nurturing a diverse, inclusive community committed to personal growth, responsible citizenship, and positive societal impact. Beyond academics, Vermont State University’s campuses promote vibrant student life with athletics, clubs, and collaborative learning environments that reflect the unique character of the Green Mountains and beyond, inviting learners from around Vermont and the world to pursue their ambitions in ways that are personally meaningful and professionally rewarding.
