Delaware Solid Waste Authority is the statewide public agency responsible for planning, developing, and managing an integrated system of solid waste disposal, recycling, resource recovery, and hazardous waste collection throughout the State of Delaware, operating modern landfills, transfer stations, collection centers, and recycling programs while promoting environmental protection, public health, and sustainability. Established by state legislation in 1975, DSWA uses innovative solid waste management technology to safely handle municipal waste, generate energy from landfill gases, and provide opportunities for residents and businesses to recycle electronics, used oil, batteries, textiles, and other special wastes through convenient drop-off locations and collection events. In addition to its core operational services, the Authority emphasizes community outreach and environmental education, offering programs and facilities such as the DSWA Environmental Education Building to help Delaware residents learn about proper waste management, resource recovery, and recycling practices.
